NSW Drone Search provides professional thermal imaging drone searches for missing people, lost dogs and other pets throughout New South Wales, with operations also available across Australia’s eastern states where weather, terrain, airspace and site conditions are suitable.
 

We use the latest high-resolution drone thermal imaging technology to rapidly search large areas of bushland, rural properties, parks, waterways, farmland and difficult or inaccessible terrain. Our thermal cameras detect differences in heat emitted by people and animals, helping identify potential targets that can be difficult to locate using conventional visual searches alone. High-resolution thermal imaging can detect heat signatures that may be difficult to identify visually, particularly at night and through openings or gaps in vegetation. Thermal cameras cannot see through solid vegetation, dense canopy or other physical obstructions, however heat signatures can be detected through the gaps in the foliage.

Advanced Thermal Imaging Drone Equipment

Our search drones are equipped with 640 × 512 high-resolution thermal imaging cameras capable of recording both thermal photographs and thermal video. Captured imagery can be recorded with date, time and GPS location information, allowing areas of interest and potential sightings to be accurately documented and reviewed.
 

The aircraft also incorporates advanced search capabilities including:

• High-resolution colour photography and video to assist with visual identification once a potential subject has been detected.

• Laser rangefinder technology to determine the distance between the drone and a detected person, dog or other potential search target.

• GPS-positioned imagery and video to assist in identifying the precise location of potential sightings.

• 4G connectivity capability, where compatible mobile coverage is available, providing an additional communications pathway and helping improve operational reliability in suitable locations.

Our primary search area covers Sydney, Greater Sydney, regional NSW and remote areas throughout New South Wales. We can also undertake thermal drone searches in Queensland, Victoria, the ACT and other eastern Australian locations, subject to suitable weather, terrain, airspace and operating conditions.

Combining thermal imaging, high-resolution visual cameras, powerful spotlights, GPS positioning, laser ranging and advanced drone communications provides our operators with multiple tools for searching difficult terrain and confirming potential sightings.
